What admin follows a death?

The first week

You will need to register the death, use the government’s Tell Us Once service to inform most public bodies in one go, and start arranging the funeral. Some of this has to happen quickly. Most of it is straightforward once you know the order.

The weeks that follow

The work becomes a long list of phone calls and forms. This includes banks, building societies, pension providers, energy companies, mobile contracts and streaming subscriptions. Each one needs to be told. Many will ask for a copy of the death certificate.

How Willow helps

Use Willow to keep track of it all. We show you who to contact and what they need, log what you have done, and, where possible, act on your behalf to notify companies. We don't yet provide legal advice, including probate and inheritance tax matters, but we're happy to help you find trusted professionals.

Founder story

I spent four years working with one of the UK's largest funeral directors. In that time, thousands of families had to navigate the admin burden after losing a loved one. I never met anyone who said it was an easy process.

You face forms, calls and paperwork – a different process for each organisation and seemingly endless back-and-forth – at a time when you just need space.

Willow is the first step in making the process easier, helping to share the admin burden and giving you more time to grieve.
